LET'S CREATE DESIGN FICTION, the future of creative professions
In a rapidly changing world of work, creative freelancers are facing unprecedented challenges: an increase in the number of freelancers, technological acceleration, evolving business models, and more.
How can we imagine the future of these hybrid professions (professional skills, offering positioning), often solitary and constantly being redefined?
To answer this question, Créons is organizing Créons Design Fiction, a new kind of event to collectively consider the future of creative freelancing.
On Tuesday, October 7th, creative professionals in Nantes will gather for a three-part day dedicated to prospective exploration:
🔧 Design Fiction Workshop (9 a.m.–6 p.m.)
In small groups, thirty participants will be guided through a design fiction workshop, a creative method combining imagination, design, and speculation to create future narratives.
The objective: to prototype possible futures for their professions, their tools, and their ecosystems.
🎤 Public Presentation (6–7 p.m.)
The groups' work will be presented publicly to open the discussion and fuel debate on the future challenges facing independent creative professions.
🍸 Afterwork / Networking Aperitif (7–10 PM)
A friendly time to extend discussions, meet other freelancers, build connections, and dream together about desirable futures, with a drink in hand.
➜ It will take place at La Ville est Belle (Île de Nantes), registration required: https://www.creons.co/workshop/creons-design-fiction
Why this event now?
Creative freelancers—designers, graphic designers, illustrators, writers, photographers, videographers, UX researchers, etc.—are both the first to be impacted by technological developments like AI and the best placed to imagine alternative futures. Yet, few spaces allow them to escape the urgency of everyday life and gain perspective.
With Créons Design Fiction, the future of creative professions, Créons offers a moment of breathing, anticipation and co-creation: a time to regain control over one's professional paths and collectively imagine what independent creative work could – or should – become.
